EMDR Consultation
EMDR consultation is offered by a Consultant-in-Training (CIT) for clinicians integrating EMDR into their practice or pursuing EMDR certification, with a focus on complex trauma and ongoing or repeated traumatic stress.
Consultation supports case conceptualization, treatment planning, pacing, and clinical attunement during reprocessing. Attention is given to maintaining a steady, resourced therapeutic process, with particular focus on somatic awareness and the use of somatic interweaves throughout the EMDR phases to support stabilization, grounding, and nervous system regulation when clinically indicated.
Space is provided for thoughtful discussion of clinical cases, professional development, and the integration of EMDR within trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice. This work is informed by experience in community mental health and extensive work with individuals navigating complex and chronic trauma, including displacement, identity-related stressors, and systemic barriers.
Fee: $150 per 50 minutes of consultation
Clinical Supervision
Individualized supervision for limited and pre-licensed clinicians pursuing full licensure in Michigan and Colorado (LMSW Michigan / LCSW Colorado).
Supervision supports clinical growth through case discussion, ethical reflection, and development of core clinical skills including case conceptualization and treatment planning.
The process offers space to explore how identity, culture, and systemic context shape clinical work and therapeutic presence, with attention to work with LGBTQ+ communities, immigrants, and individuals navigating trauma and displacement.
Fee: $150 per 50 minutes of clinical supervison
Questions
Consultation emphasizes thoughtful case conceptualization, pacing, clinical attunement, and the integration of somatic awareness throughout the EMDR process. Particular attention is given to working with complexity while maintaining a grounded and sustainable approach to trauma treatment.
Clinical supervision and EMDR consultation serve different purposes. Clinical supervision typically focuses on licensure requirements, ethical and legal considerations, professional accountability, and overall clinical development.
EMDR consultation focuses specifically on the integration of EMDR into clinical practice. Consultation may include case conceptualization, treatment planning, pacing, fidelity to the EMDR model, and the use of somatic awareness and interweaves when working with trauma. While both are collaborative and growth-oriented, EMDR consultation is not a substitute for clinical supervision.
Absolutely. Client cases are at the heart of consultation. Clinicians are encouraged to bring de-identified cases, questions, stuck points, and clinical dilemmas for discussion. Together, we can explore case conceptualization, treatment planning, pacing, somatic interweaves, and ways to support safe and effective trauma processing.
Somatic therapy focuses on gently noticing sensations, breath, and physical responses. This awareness can help you and your nervous system move toward greater balance and regulation.
EMDRIA currently requires 20 hours of consultation for certification. Ten hours must be completed individually, and the remaining ten may be completed in either individual or group consultation. Up to 15 hours may be completed with a Consultant-in-Training (CIT), while at least 5 hours must be completed with an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant.
Yes. Prior to the first consultation session, clinicians receive an agreement outlining the scope of consultation, confidentiality considerations, documentation practices, and any EMDRIA requirements related to certification. This helps create clarity and shared expectations for our work together.
Yes. Consultation can still be valuable for clinicians seeking support in working with trauma, anxiety, nervous system regulation, and client stabilization. Many of the concepts discussed, including resourcing, pacing, and somatic awareness, can be integrated into clinical practice regardless of EMDR training status.
These consultation hours do not count toward EMDRIA certification requirements. Hours intended for EMDR certification must be completed after an EMDRIA-approved Basic Training.
My consultation approach is informed by EMDR, ongoing training in Somatic Experiencing®, and experience working in community mental health settings. Much of my clinical work has involved supporting individuals navigating complex and chronic trauma, including displacement, identity-related stressors, and systemic barriers.
Why support clinicians?
My own experience as a developing clinician highlighted how important, and sometimes difficult, finding quality support can be. This work is grounded in the intention to make that support more accessible and consistent, so we can sustain the important work we do overtime.
